Cincinnati Update – by Lindsey Stout 3

Being able to participate in the efforts of this wonderful organization has been a real blessing for my team and me this week. We’ve been painting the outside walls of a soup kitchen, and the reactions from the locals have been varied. Some really appreciate what we’re doing, while others think it’s a waste of time.  It’s been very interesting to see how people react to us ‘invading’ there territory.

One incident that really stood out to me occurred on Wednesday, our second work day. One of the homeless men that had come for lunch was deaf, and Nathan, a boy on our team, was able to communicate with him using sign-language. The scene was so touching that (and I hope he doesn’t mind me saying this) it moved our leader Dave to tears. The man asked simple questions about whether or not we were getting paid, told us what he thought of our choice of color, and just had a nice conversation. I think that this occurrence just goes to show that the people that come here are regular people like us, and what we are doing is really worthwhile. I’m sure that this experience will change our lives forever.

Neat entry Lindsey. It was such a joy to be a part of the team down there in Cincy. All of our unique and varied experiences will leave a lasting impression on our hearts and minds for many years to come. It was so cool the day you and others were able to help the staff in serving lunch. I appreciated your awesome attitude, character and enthusiasm throughout the entire week. May this be just the tip of the iceberg for what the Lord can teach us all about serving Him and others as a team.

    In Christ’s love
    Dave
