This past Sunday we began our new series called “Sex & Love.”  Obviously this is a very important and timely series for our students and needs to be talked about.  In this opening week we looked at “Our Culture & God’s Plan.”  Here are some of the notes:

Our Culture on Sex:

1. We live in a sexually saturated world.
2. Sex is not a big deal in our culture.
3. Our culture gives us many mixed messages when it comes to sex.
4. Too often our culture things Love = Sex.

God’s Plan for Sex:

1. You were made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27; Ephesians 1:4; Psalm 139:13-14)
2. In marriage two become one (Genesis 2:18-24; 1 Corinthians 7:2)
3. Flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18)

3 Final Thoughts:

1. Sexual purity is a REALLY BIG DEAL (for you and me)
2. Imagine if every on lived by God’s Plan
3. I hope you choose sexual purity

Parent Questions – Have you ever given your son or daughter “The Sex Talk?”  What did you say?  How did it go?  Did you spend much time talking about God’s Plan for Sex, how to set boundaries, or how to fight temptation?

This past Sunday we concluded our series called Your Journey by looking at Ephesians 5:15-20.  This is a very interesting passage which challenges us to think about how we’re using our time.  If we’re not careful we’ll end up wasting it because the days are evil.  We also need to be careful about letting non-important things control us.  Instead we need to make God a priority and allow the Spirit to control our lives.

We ended our time by looking at 3 Thoughts:

1. Don’t waste your time – use it wisely
2. Don’t be a fool – seek God’s will for your life
3. Don’t allow anything control your life except God

Final Prayer for You:

That you would continually give yourself over to God and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Parent Questions – How are you using your time?  How often do you let unimportant things in your life push out the more important parts like God?  How often do you help your children think about how they are using their time?

This past Sunday we took the next step in our current series Your Journey by looking at “Your Life Pt. 1.” Our goal for the morning was to help our students raise the standards by which they live their lives. They were challenged to not live lives that are “hopelessly confused” but instead live a life worthy of their calling.

In Ephesians 4:1, the apostle Paul writes, “Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.”

Sunday morning we looked at  3 Things to Talk About:

1. Have you ever found yourself “hopelessly confused”? – living without purpose.
2. STOP IT! – What is it in your life that you need to cut out? – Eph. 4:25-29
3. Live a life worthy… – Live lives full of humbleness, gentleness, patience, and love.

I wrapped up our time by sharing 1 Prayer I have:

That our students would take the steps necessary to raise the bar.
